"[Erdem] is leading up the efforts to reverse engineer Samsung TV firmware with a project called SamyGo. Official Samsung firmware uses the Linux kernel, making it a familiar system to work with for many developers. So far they’ve implemented NFS and SAMBA for sharing files over the network, improved playback from USB devices, and unlocked the ability to use non-Samsung WiFi dongles.

In order to make changes to the system, you need to enable a telnet connection on the device. The SamyGo team accomplished this by changing an official version of the firmware in a hex editor to start the telnet daemon at boot time. This altered firmware is then flashed using Samsung’s built in upgrade system. Once telnet is enabled, non-official firmware can be manually flashed.

We’d love to see this project expand to other TV Brands in the future. In fact, we were looking for something like this back in June when we realized that our Sony Bravia runs a Linux kernel and can be updated via USB drive. Be careful if you want to try this out. We can only imagine the fallout after telling your significant other that you bricked a high-priced LCD."

Xem kỹ lại thì tụi nó chỉ hack cho TV Samsung châu âu :-(
Tuy vậy cũng có chút cho các bác xài tạm - khuyến cáo: ghi lại các thông số trước khi thay đổi và có thể biến TV của các bác thành "cục gạch" (brick) :

1. Vào menu service mode - có nhiều các thông số để có thể thay đổi :
TV ở chế độ stanby nhấn lần lượt các nút {INFO} {MENU} {MUTE} {POWER}
2. Active chế độ thu trực tiếp từ TV ra USB - đã thử với "chuột" LA37C650 nhưng không thấy tác dụng ( - hy vọng dòn khác dùng được

Warning

Be very careful what you press on the remote whilst in service menu. Move through menu list by pressing down or up arrow only. Only press right arrow to change an option.

NOTE: All user settings (and TV channels) will be reset to default after this so write all your settings down on paper and reset them afterwards.

BE CAREFUL IN THE SERVICE MENU!

Step by Step guide

Turn on TV, push on remote control: MUTE-1-1-9-ENTER, Hotel Mode menu appears (H1) set HOTEL MODE to ON (right arrow) and then turn off TV.
Whilst TV is off invoke service menu by pushing INFO-MENU-MUTE-POWER on remote control (If this doesn't work try MUTE-1-8-2-POWER). This will turn the TV on and show the Service Menu (S1).
In service menu move down to Control and select this (right arrow) - new menu appears (S2) - move down to Hotel Option and select this (right arrow) - new menu appears (S3) - move down to Clone TV to USB and select this (right arrow). TV then checks USB. - Wait until the message Completed Successfully appears. - Select OK by pressing enter.
H1 menu appears - press return.
S4 menu appears - move up to Sub Option category and select (right arrow).
new large menu appears (S5)
In this menu move down to PVR Support and set to ON (right arrow). (Move to PVR by pressing down button, not right!!!) This option now appears on its own on the TV screen, press return to go back to main menu again (S5)
You can also set Gemstar Support to ON if required for the GuidePlus EPG.
You can also set RS232-Jack to Debug (this is a safety measure)
You can also set Watchdog to OFF (this is a safety measure)
Press return to go back to previous menu (S4) and move down to Hotel Option and select this (right arrow). H1 menu appears then set Hotel Mode to OFF (right arrow) and power off your TV.
Turn TV on normally. PVR is now enabled.
If you now press record or pause whilst watching live TV the TV will ask to format the USB drive. If this is done successfully the PVR function should now work and you enter timeshift mode and begin to record to the USB.

3. Thêm một số widget hay hay - có nhiều kênh trực tuyến, youtube HD, 3D....:
- Vào internet@tv thêm 01 account với tên là develop login voi ten do
- vào setting -> development->setting sever IP, điền IP sau:188.126.44.135 và nhấn tiếp synchronize sẽ update các widgets mới (bao gồm cả widget không nhãn để hack - nhưng thử không được)

e máu lắm nhưng phải nghiên cứu kỹ tí đã k con 55d8000 nó thành brick thì e die mất ^^

Vào service menu của SS bác nào trước khi định thử nghiệm thì nên ghé qua nhà bác Meomatto.
Chuyên gia trong thay đổi tính năng của tv đấy, học qua một chút trước khi tíên hành thì cũng rất bổ ích, SS không có thêm một chút thong tin nào trên mạng cả!
