Mars, in 2170 - after the events of Red Faction: Guerrilla, the previous games in the series, it took 50 years. Then the resistance forces and their allies succeeded in maintaining its freedom and to establish the world peace and tranquility. But they lasted long. As a result of man-made disaster live on the surface of Mars was more impossible, and the colonists had to move to the only safe place - underground caves.

 

The protagonist of the game - Mason Darius (Darius Mason), grandson Alex Mason - a key character's Red Faction: Guerrilla. Darius makes a living dangerous trades - and he a miner, and a scavenger, and a mercenary. By chance, he awakens an ancient evil that can destroy all the red planet. And that he, along with the legendary "Red Brigade� (Red Faction) will have to save the inhabitants of Mars - unless, of course, be able to survive in the local sub-human conditions.
