Embracedby the historical landscape of medieval Europe at the time of theHundred Years War, the player takes on the role of a brave hero settingout to experience an exciting fictitious story packed with treachery,betrayal, battles and ambushes.
While bad tempered neighbors and bloodthirstyrobber knights are lurking everywhere around the deep dark forests ofCentral Europe, the player also needs to tend to various vital taskssuch as building castles and fortifications, taking enemy strong holdsby assault, smoking out bandit camps, fighting glorious battles and,last but not least, rescuing lovely maidens from the hands of crudebarbarians.
Knight Formation: The sophisticated tactical optionsfeatured in Castle Strike are complemented by knight formationsproviding for additional special abilities that are triggered upon theassignment of a hero to regular formations. Inaddition the unit strengthis significantly influenced by resting times, weather conditions,altitude, armor upgrades and experience levels.
Combatants:Further to the assignment of a hero featuring particular specialabilities, the player may also select one of three nations (Germany,England and France) with each of them offering 18 quite different unittypes for combat: Melee fighters carrying swords, axes or spears, rangedcombatants using bows, crossbows or arquebusiers, bomb plantingsaboteurs, sappers and, of course, fully armored knights and their proudwarhorses.
Automatic Labour Organisation: In order to cope withthe tactical challenges of Castle Strike, the organisation of theplayers work force can be managed very easily: Clicking two buttons willturn a nations workers into builders (for automatic building, repairand/or fire extinguishing) or collectors (responsible for gatheringresources) respectively. Both resource production as well as labourorganisation for the most part can be handled by either moving a slideror placing direct orders.
Castles: As soon as sufficientresources are available, the player can start building a massive castle.The keep and the military installations inside should be protected byupgradeable walls that are both passable and climbable. Heavy artilleryplaced within the castle towers will help repel hostile attacks.Additional enhanced defense measures can be implemented after extensiveresearch.
Pattern System: The Pattern System is a unique featureto Castle Strike and was specifically designed for this game. It enablesthe player to carefully plan each phase of construction well in advancebefore actually erecting the castle thereby avoiding the waste ofresources due to badly designed fortifications. There are more than 25historical economic and military buildings available for eachnation.
SiegeArmoury: The siege armory comprises impressive towers, rams, ballistae,catapults, mortars, trebuchets, cannons (e.g. the Hollow Hanna) andmany more. All of these weapons must be operated by the players ownarmy. If left unattended or abandoned, the enemy may seize this kind ofweaponry.
Random Generator: By use of the random generator theplayer may create new single player and multiplayer maps for up to sixhuman or AI players.
Historical uniforms, armoury, landscapes andsiege weaponry, stylish medieval buildings, an intriguing storystretching out over 30 varied missions, realistically animated andhighly detailed units, a freely moveable and zoomable camera and astunning selection of tactical and strategic options all of thesefeatures make Castle Strike stand out as an absorbing game experiencefor up to six players (in multiplayer mode).
